The primary aim of this process concerns identifying and ascertaining organizational commitment towards various areas of social responsibility. This is largely accomplished by examining existing organizational vision, mission, programs and policies. It also involves examining laws and regulations to identify legal compliance required of the organization.
Value ::
Organizations may tend to champion certain social issues although they may not have concrete programs addressing the issue. Nonetheless, these issues may be considered as relevant and dear to the organization and as such organizations may be willing to commit and provide resources to elevate and address these issues in some way. This will provide strong credibility to the social responsibility program and will significantly help build commitment towards the program at the organization.
Objectives ::
  • To identify which of the core areas of ISO 26000 an organization is committed towards by examining firm’s existing values, vision and mission and programs and policies.
  • To identify legal requirements that may apply to the organization in regards to social responsibility action.
